Ed Engleking’s 17-year ministry with the Texas Methodist Foundation has earned him the respect of his colleagues and the churches he has served. He has conducted over 97 capital campaigns, raising more than $74.5 million, with multiple campaigns exceeding $1 million. Ed pioneered the development of the Building Disciples capital campaign for smaller churches, along with the design of other styles of capital campaigns, and has creatively participated in the development of the annual/year-round workshop, particularly in the use of the Narrative Ministry Plan. Ed is an experienced Good $ense trainer, the Willow Creek personal Christian finance program. In his stewardship ministry, Ed helps churches visualize the possibilities that can be achieved through stewardship education and then discover creative and effective ways for Growing Faithful Givers.
Engleking’s prior business career equipped him with skills in negotiation, personnel administration, operations and financial management/analysis. His “call to ministry” embedded in his life a passion and spirit of servanthood. As a layperson, his local church recognized his “gifts and graces” with leadership roles in Stewardship, Finance, Staff-Parish Relations, Administrative Board, Worship Committee, Youth Ministry, Stephen Ministry, Lay Leader and Walk to Emmaus. Ed has also served on district and conference committees including the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry. The combination of this business acumen and spiritual leadership makes him an excellent consultant. Drawing on collective experience, he can offer insightful guidance to churches desiring to focus on stewardship education in discipleship training.
Engleking received a B.A. from Northwestern Oklahoma State University with graduate studies at Emporia State University. A life-long commitment to continuing education includes management, accounting, problem solving, data processing and transactional analysis in courses at the University of Kansas, the University of Wisconsin, the Wharton School of Business and the American Management Association. He is a member of the Christian Stewardship Association and the Willow Creek Association.
